Donut Sam's & Bakery, located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, is a unique establishment with a heartwarming mission. Staffed primarily by individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities, the shop aims to make a difference in the community "one donut at a time." The client approached me to execute a comprehensive rebranding initiative and design a user-friendly website featuring online ordering capabilities.
Although Donut Sam's had a steady local clientele, they struggled to attract students from the nearby university. Additionally, the store aspired to expand its reach into event catering for weddings, parties, and corporate functions, requiring online ordering functionality to be built into the new website.
The Brief: Create a brand identity that echoes the client's mission while exuding vintage donut shop vibes. The brand should use the vibrant existing color palette of blue and orange, but not be, as the client stated, "too flashy". Deliverables should include logos, a new website, and marketing collateral—social media assets, shop apparel and decor, business cards, and a sales brochure.
My Approach: I prioritized a timeless aesthetic, blending modern functionality with classic elements. I applied this approach to each piece I created, balancing the client's desired visual style with the powerful sense of community that Donut Sam's embodied.
